MINISTER SHABANGU CONGRATULATES MISS SOUTH AFRICA DEMI-LEIGH NEL-PETERS FOR BEING CROWNED MISS UNIVERSE 2017 

Minister in the Presidency Responsible for Women, Ms. Susan Shabangu, would like to  congratulate Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters for being crowned Miss Universe 2017 in Las Vegas last night. Nel-Peters is also the reigning Miss South Africa,

The triumphant 22-year-old Nel-Peters competed with 91 women from across the globe during the 66th edition of the pageant making her the second South African to be crowned Miss Universe after Margaret Gardiner.

“Let us celebrate this great victory of our nation. Nel-Peters, a graduate in business management, hoisted the South African flag high, undoubtedly she will keep on representing the country well and add a voice to the emancipation of women here at home and across the globe,” said Minister Shabangu.
